Why have the heavy investments in
(a) research to prove benefits of screening and early detection
(b) imaging (Mammography and MRI) and
(b) chemotherapy regimes to treat
breast cancer
NOT changed the above statistics?
Are you aware that these statistics you read are from trials
and those which are funded?
So if you are on the trial you get
access to free screening and sometimes treatment for the trial
period or else you pay for it and incur the cost. Research for
sure has proven that the only way to improve survival and cure
breast cancer is to detect when it is small (tumor size <1cm )
and confined to the breasts. If this is achievable then,
-
Stage
I cancers will be detected i.e the tumor size is less than 2 cms
and there is no spread to the axillary nodes or distant organs
-
For small sized cancers , it is possible to offer a wide
array of oncoplastic surgeries which help you to preserve your
beauty, sometimes even enhance the existing breast ( in oncoplastic
breast surgeries we use plastic surgery techniques of breast
reduction or augmentation without compromising on the cancer
treatment and symmetrize the opposite breast)
-
Morbidity
associated with chemotherapy can be avoided if you detect less
than 1 cm tumors ( Chemotherapy is recommended for tumors
greater than 1 cm)
One would wonder why, when such a lot is known,
do we not know how to ACHIEVE CURE?
train your
fingers today - detect breast disease now
this may be the best gift you can
give yourself
